Our formulas

We build our soap recipes from scratch using a purposeful blend of nutrient-dense, plant-based ingredients. Each component is chosen for its unique fatty acid profile, working in harmony to create a bar that cleanses effectively while respecting the skin barrier.

  • Olive oil is the gentle foundation of our recipes. Rich in oleic acid, olive oil provides an exceptionally mild, conditioning wash. It creates a low, tight, lotion-like lather that cushions the skin, making it a gold standard for minimizing irritation.
  • Coconut oil is the structural anchor. It is responsible for producing a hard, long-lasting bar of soap and generating a generous, fluffy lather. In our standard recipes, it provides deep cleansing power; in our sensitive skin varieties, we keep this percentage lower to prevent any stripping or tightness.
  • Shea butter is the conditioning booster. It's packed with "unsaponifiables" - natural compounds that don't turn into soap during the making process. Instead, they remain in the final bar as a rich, protective emollient that locks in moisture and adds a luxurious, velvety slip to the foam.
  • Castor oil is the lather stabilizer. Rich in ricinoleic acid, castor oil acts as a natural humectant that draws moisture to the skin. In the wash, its primary job is to act as a catalyst, magnifying and stabilizing the bubbles created by the other oils so the lather stays thick and dense throughout your wash.
  • Coconut milk adds creaminess. Replacing some of the standard water with coconut milk introduces natural plant sugars and extra fats into the process that give the lather a dramatic boost, turning ordinary bubbles into an incredibly decadent, silk-like cream, while the extra fats offer an ultra-gentle, skin-loving buffer.
  • Natural clays, such as French, Brazilian, or Dead Sea clays are mineral-dense, earth-born elements that add a distinct, smooth "slip" to the lather, allowing the bar to glide effortlessly across the skin. As a bonus, they provide our bars with their rich, rustic colors completely free of synthetic colorants.

A Note on Our Process: By carefully balancing these six ingredients, we can shift our formulas from a bright, bubbly everyday cleanse to an ultra-mild, low-cleansing variety specifically tailored for dry or easily compromised skin.

Our standard formula:

45% Olive Oil
25% Coconut Oil
25% Shea Butter
5% Castor Oil
Lye/Water/Coconut milk in a 1:1:1 ratio
Natural clay added at 2% of oil by weight

Our sensitive/dry skin formula:

60% Olive Oil
15% Coconut Oil
20% Shea Butter
5% Castor Oil
Lye/Water/Coconut milk in a 1:1:1 ratio
